Cindy Crawford Says Goodbye to Modeling
There is a new crop of young, beautiful models on the rise, but there is always room in the industry for the true icons of fashion. Renowned supermodel Cindy Crawford is part of this exclusive group of people who remain undeniably a part of the fashion landscape despite years -- decades, in fact -- from her heyday. Which is why it's shocking to hear the iconic beauty say that she will likely walk away from modelling.
According to a report with Rhapsody magazine via United Hemispheres, Crawford is releasing a new book entitled "Becoming" to commemorate her 50th birthday this month. The project, which showcases the supermodel's life through a number of photographs over the decades, also serves another purpose: a farewell to her long and acclaimed modelling career.
"Or maybe not say goodbye," Crawford amended. "But move on."
In an industry with a revolving door of new faces hailed as the next big thing to go with every new trend, it's impressive that Crawford has remained a significant part of the industry for so long. Perhaps, even more impressive that she is willing to step away from the limelight.
"I had no idea that the book would be part of the journey," she told Rhapsody about leaving modeling behind. "I feel like I'm allowing that to have been great, and I'm celebrating it. And I'm sure I'll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore. And that's OK. I've done it. I've worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can't keep reinventing myself."
Crawford summed up her thoughts concluding, "I shouldn't have to keep proving myself. I don't want to."
Still, a new social media post by the iconic model revealed that while she's interested in other ventures, there might be some time before she leaves the fashion industry for good since new opportunities may present themselves in the near future.
"While it's true that I'm eager to shift my focus a bit to concentrate on my businesses, friends and family -- I'm not making any final statements," Crawford wrote on her Instagram, adding that her time in the business has taught her never to say never.
After all, her career, spanning years and countless trends in the fashion industry, is still marking significant milestones. Aside from her new book, Crawford recently headlined a new Balmain campaign with fellow 90s supermodels Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell, a recent report from Latin Post revealed.
