Guns N' Roses to Have Reunion Concert in Mexico for Spring 2016 Tour [See Schedule]
Axl Rose and Slash have reportedly made amends and will be reuniting for a Guns N’ Roses concert outside of the United States. Duff McKagan will also be joining the two in Mexico City to perform between appearances at Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California.
Loudwire reported that there are rumors that the reunion concert in Mexico will also involve guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and multi-instrumentalist Chris Pitman.
In an article by Consequence of Sound, Guns N’ Roses will perform at the Foro Sol venue in Mexico on Apr. 19, 2016. The band announced that they will be performing in Las Vegas, Nevada at the new T-Mobile Arena on April 8 and 9.
They will also be at Coachella Music Festival on April 16 and 23. GNR is expected to announce a North American tour in summer 2016, although the exact dates are not yet confirmed. There are also talks that the group will head to UK festivals and a stadium tour.
The Las Vegas shows will be the first time that Axl Rose, Slash and McKagan will be performing together since 1993, wrote NME. There are also rumors that Matt Sorumand Izzy Stradlin will be playing with the reformed group. The two have expressed their interest to participate and share duties.
According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Guns N’ Roses was created in 1985, subsequently becoming one of the most important acts in the history of music.
Over the years, tension continued to build between Axl and Slash, with their visions and inputs reportedly being different from each other. Slash and McKagan then quit the band in 1993, following the departures of drummer Steven Adler and guitarist Stradlin.
Rose carried on the name of the band, while Slash also had several projects afterward. Slash particularly tapped Myles Kennedy as frontman to sing Guns N’ Roses songs. The other original members pursued solo careers.
Later on, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Rose refused to attend the ceremony. Slash had been refusing to comment on the possibility of a reunion, always saying before that it was not an option.
For years, fans of the classic band have been clamoring for a reunion.In 2015, lead guitarist Slash shared that he reconciled with frontmanAxl Rose after having issues with each other for almost two decades.
