WWE: John Cena Injury Update, A.J. Styles Backstage Heat, The Undertaker Plans and More
The latest WWE news and rumors are about possible plans at WrestleMania 32, which is eight weeks away. Know the latest update on John Cena's shoulder injury, a backstage heat on a new WWE superstar, The Undertaker and more.
John Cena Recovering Way Ahead of Schedule?
The 15-time WWE champion successfully underwent surgery on torn labrum last Jan. 7 in Birmingham, Alabama that will take six to nine months to fully heal. According to PWInsider, all WrestleMania 32 plans were scrapped due to his injury including a match with The Undertaker.
Dave Meltzer notes on the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that if Cena recovers way ahead of schedule, he will face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32. However, What Culture says that even though Cena has the reputation to recover very quickly, he's already 38 years old with a lot of wear and tears to his body.
Backstage Heat on A.J. Styles
A.J. Styles made a successful WWE debut at the Royal Rumble last Jan. 24, but apparently, he already received some backstage heat from Vince McMahon. In a report by Inquisitr, McMahon was unhappy because Styles signed a contract with Figures Inc. before joining the WWE.
Styles is able to use his trademarked name in the WWE, something that Figures Inc. may capitalize when the former IWGP and ROH is pushed to the top. McMahon reportedly dislikes companies using his performers to make money.
One prime example is Kevin Owens' two clean losses to Cena because he also signed a deal with Figures Inc. before becoming a WWE superstar. The toy company released an action figure in Owens' likeness around the time he made his main roster debut.
The Undertaker to be part of a Six-Man Tag Match at WrestleMania?
As of now, there are no clear plans for The Undertaker at WrestleMania since many main event names are injured and no other credible superstars are available on the main roster. Bryan Alvarez noted on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live via Cageside Seats that one the talked about ideas is to have The Undertaker team up with Kane and The Big Show go up against The Wyatt Family.
The report adds that Bray Wyatt will surely have a feud with Brock Lesnar and the three legends will help neutralize the odds and face Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman in a six-man tag match at WrestleMania 32. However, it should be noted that The Undertaker appearing in a match of that caliber will not be exciting for many fans.
WWE Working With Lucha Underground?
The Wrestling Observer reported that Triple H and Senior Director of Talent Development Canyon Cemen reportedly met with Lucha Underground officials back in December to talk about talents, but no agreement was reached, per Wrestle Zone.
