Zac Posen is a renowned name in the fashion circuit, but the designer is expanding his brand to include his other passions. In particular, food. The Posen recently unveiled his plans to release a cookbook next year entitled "Cooking With Zac."

It's not quite a trivia that's well-publicized quality of the designer, but cooking with Zac is quite a common occurrence; the designer always finds a way to whip up something in the kitchen every day. In a phone interview with Vogue.com, he described it as a method to "de-fashion" after hours of being immersed in his main craft.

For those who keep tabs on Posen in social media, it's not so surprising that the designer has found a way to indulge his gastronomic interests. He regularly regales his one million Instagram followers with photos of various dishes, a hint at his growing fascination with food that had its roots from his young days in Soho.

Posen even credited his online fans with his new project saying, "If it had not been for the response from the followers on social media, I never would have taken the plunge and put a cookbook together."

While he eventually pursued his passion in style and beauty, Posen revealed that food was a big part of his childhood -- and it still is. As a teenager, he pored over the New York Times recipes and he also cited Martha Stewart's "Living" cookbook and "La Varenne Pratique" as his other great influences in the art of cooking.

When asked, Posen described his style in the kitchen as "rustic to refined". Limiting his vision is not something he's keen on doing though, whether on the runway or over the stove. The book will showcase a wide variety of tastes and cuisines.

"My French partner, Christopher Niquet, loves his pâte à choux, which is one of the easiest recipes to make, and then you can build variations on it," Posen continued. "My dad is from St. Louis, so we go from barbecue in the book to great ways to prepare quick and healthy energy meals, like different ways to do lentils mixed with fresh tarragon, chervil, and lemon zest-or you might want to try an orange zest in there to bring more of a floral note."

The possibilities are endless, much like Posen's knack for adding more facets to his expertise. Last year, he was named the creative director for Brooks Brothers and he recently debuted his own spring collection in the fashion house, according to a report from Ocean Drive.

Published by Rodale, Posen's "Cooking With Zac" is slated to hit the shelves in 2017.
