Gigi Hadid, Adriana Lima and Lily Aldridge dress in the '70s or '80s to pay tribute to classic style icons Patti Hansen, Janice Dickinson and Patti Smith, respectively. The models channelled the styles of these fashion icons for a recent photo shoot with W magazine.

Hadid, Lima and Aldridge each gave their best interpretation of their respective style icons for the March issue of W magazine. The publication on its official website said the models were in their "free spirits" during the photo shoot.

The publication called Hadid as the "modern-day" Hansen because of her "glamorous-girl-next-door appeal." W magazine shared a photo of the Victoria's Secret model dressed in her Hansen-inspired wardrobe, which is a mix of pieces coming from today's famous labels.

According to the site, Hadid is dressed in a striped Marc Jacobs blazer paired with a pair of white Max Mara bell-bottoms. To complete her classic fashion vibe, the 20-year-old paired her clothes with circus theme-inspired platform pumps. Hadid also posed for W magazine wearing a faded black jumpsuit and bra from Louis Vuitton.

Mail Online shared a photo comparison of Hadid's outfit with that of Hansen's wardrobe during a photo shoot done in the '70s or '80s. According to the site, W magazine couldn't have picked out a better model to represent Hansen. Both models reportedly have some things in common. They both started modelling during their teenage years, represent denim labels, (Calvin Klein for Hansen and Guess for Hadid) and also have musicians as boyfriends (Zayn Malik for Hadid and Keith Richards for Hansen).

Aldridge, on the other hand, posed as Smith for W magazine. To portray the style icon, Aldridge was dressed in Smith's "signature punk style." The Sports Illustrated model played up to her character with her hair styled in messy spikes and her eyelids lined with dark eyeliner.

Aldridge completed her Smith-inspired look with an oversized Riccardo Tisci trench and trousers from Givenchy. She also wore layered chain necklaces for that punk look. Aldridge's look is reminiscent of Smith's 1977 photo shoot, as seen in the photo shared by Mail Online. In another photo posted by W magazine, Aldridge also donned on a pair of jeans designed with the American flag.

Lima, on the other hand, could easily pass for Dickinson's doppelganger, according to W magazine on its website. The Victoria's Secret model played up to her style icon dressed in a long dress and a pair of cowboy boots.
