Season 6 of “Homeland” is expected to be a reinvention. The new season will be set in New York City which might cause concern among actual residents, considering the accuracy and similarities of the Season 5 episodes with the ISIS and Paris attacks.

Vanity Fair revealed that as “Homeland” continues, it seems that the reinvention will be the main aspect of the new season.

“We are in awe of how (showrunner) Alex Gansa and his writing staff re-invent Homeland each year. And I think it’s exciting to see what they’re going to do in bringing it back to the United States and re-invent it yet again,” said Gary Levin, Showtime president of programming, told the site.

In 2015, the show was set in Germany. According to David Nevins of Showtime, the story of the show was about the challenge to be America in the world in the 21st century and that the choices are also difficult.

Quinn (Rupert Friend) is expected to go through major changes in Season 6 as well. Nevins did not share whether or not Quinn survived after the last moments of Season 5. He did state that Quinn is severely damaged. Even though it turns out that he survived, he will not be in the same form that he was before and has to face the consequences.

Vanity Fair also noted that Quinn will most likely be dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder in the next season. The character actually spent most of Season 4 being depressed, so more effects of his past experiences are expected to surface soon. Season 5 was considered by viewers as the strongest so far. However, Season 6 also appears to be promising and compelling enough to continue to drive fans.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gansa shared that their perspective on terrorism has also shifted through the years. He said that he was proud of the cast’s performance, as well as the research team’s accuracy to ensure that the story remains on point and stays interesting to fans.

Gansa said that he is still uncertain about the direction that they would wish to go with for Season 6. He cannot guarantee that the plot will be on-target with real-world headlines. He said that they plan to discuss and share ideas to tell a story about the lead character who will be in the middle of the action.

More updates and details on “Homeland” are expected soon.
