'Scandal' Season 5 Second Half Premiere: Annabeth Gish Is Back With a Recurring Role
With only a few days left before "Scandal" premieres after its holiday break to open the second half of Season 5. Recent news suggests that actress Annabeth Gish is returning for a recurring role, Deadline reports.
Gish, known for her stint at "The X-Files" on Fox, will be coming back to the hit Shonda Rhimes series on ABC. And although the publication fails to reveal exactly what Gish will be playing for the upcoming season premiere, Cartermatt speculates that she could play another client of Olivia Pope.
The publication had several speculations about how the character of Gish would affect the series. The news agency reports that Gish may also be a fixer for Tony Goldwyn's character, President Fitz Grant, and his regime in the Government, assuring the President's name to be completely clean just before stepping out of office.
Furthermore, the news agency believes that the character that Gish might play may also be involving Mellie Grant's campaign since she will reportedly run for President in the coming elections. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Mellie is indeed gearing up to take another shot at the Presidential seat even with so many challenges ahead of her, initially because of her possible opponents.
The publication further revealed that the season premiere will also be a jump to another time in the future when everything changes and Goldwyn tells it all in his recent interview with the news agency. "We find Fitz completely alone and struggling with life on his own and sort of viciously estranged from Mellie, although they're trying to co-parent. And Fitz and Olivia are not in contact," the actor revealed.
And for Mellie to run for president, Goldwyn also confirmed the news saying, "Yes, and other candidates start to emerge. Susan Ross is someone Fitz is trying to look out for and we get into that and that ambition," Goldwyn continued as quoted by the news agency.
Meanwhile, the mid-season premiere will be released on Thursday, Feb. 11 on WEWS, Channel 5 according to Cleveland. The story continues for Pope as well as she is recently in the center of controversy after President Grant revealed to everyone just how their relationship is true and even had Pope move in at the White House, EW reports.
Kerry Washington, who plays Pope revealed that her character will be drastically changed basing from what happened during the winter finale, the publication adds. More are sure to be revealed when the second half of 'Scandal' Season 5 premieres.
