Brazilians Take Leadership Positions at Italian Fashion Brand, Globo Condé Nast Group
This week two Brazilian professionals were announced to be earning top leadership positions within the fashion industry.
Daniela Falcão Takes on Globo Condé Nast Group
Already a strong presence in Brazilian media and fashion, Daniela Falcão, the current editor-in-chief of Vogue Brazil has been announced as the new editorial director of Globo Condé Nast Group, reported The Business of Fashion.
The company is a joint effort by media giant Condé Nast and Globo Communications and publishes the Brazilian versions of Vogue, GQ and Glamour, as well as Casa Vogue.
Falcão has been in charge of Vogue Brazil since 2005 and will continue to oversee the publication when deputy editor Silvia Rogar takes the role of editor-in-chief, along with overseeing the publication of all of the other magazines.
The editor shared her gratitude for the new role on Instagram and also wished the best of luck to Rogar, her deputy editor of 11 years, on taking over as the new head of Vogue Brazil.
Pedro Lourenço Takes on Italian Fashion
On Feb. 9, Italian lingerie and swimwear line La Perla named Brazilian fashion designer Pedro Lourenço as their first creative director.
According to La Perla, Lourenço, a fashion prodigy who premiered his first fashion collection at at the age of 15, will be responsible for the brand's lingerie, swimwear, sleepwear, loungewear, accessories, various menswear lines and their Atelier collection.
About his new role, the designer, who up until this point has been responsible for his own clothing line, expressed admiration for the brand's founder, Ada Masotti.
"She changed the way the world thinks of lingerie. I am amazed by the philosophy she created and I want to bring it back today," he said in a statement.
La Perla's Chairman, Silvio Scaglia, praised the young designer's talents.
"The talent, style and creative maturity of Pedro Lourenço are the reasons of our choice," said Scaglia. “His approach and style relate to our founding values and reflect the path overtaken by the brand in the last two years."
The designer's first collection with the brand will be for fall 2016 and will premiere during Milan Fashion Week in March.
In 2014, Lourenço designed a collection for Nike and partnered with M.A.C for his own cosmetic collection, reported Elle.
