'Making a Murderer' Update: Earl Avery Breaks His Silence About the Trial
Steven Avery's brother broke his silence last Wednesday, Feb. 10, as he spoke to the media for the first time. During his interview, Earl Avery spoke to Stephanie Bauer of Access Hollywood giving her shallow information on how his brother was asked to pin him for Teresa's murder.
In addition to what Earl told the reporters, he also stated that he and his brothers are being called "murderers" and other accusations. Earl also added that Steven's conviction on Teresa Halbach's murder was "railroaded" as reported by USA Today.
Earl Avery has stood by his brother's side despite the fact that he was pinned by Steven during the trial. Steven told the prosecutors that his brothers might have killed Teresa Halbach according to The Wrap.
As per the 2009 court filing accessed by The Wrap, it was mentioned that the Avery brothers, Earl and Charles, including their nephew Bob Dassey and Scott Tadych, were the ones who had motives in killing Teresa Halbach.
The court filing revealed Charles' history with physical assault and there was a time when he framed Steven over money including a share of their "family business."
As for Earl, on the other hand, it was mentioned that he was previously charged for sexually assaulting both of his daughters back in 1995. The court filing also included Earl's confession stating that he drove his golf-cart past Teresa Halbach's car, telling the police that he is willing to cooperate and give them any information that would pin Steven.
Contrary to The Wrap's report however, USA Today reported that Earl defended Steven when he was asked on why Steven pinned him.
Earl told the reporter that "He told me that his lawyers told him to say that. And he told me that he was frustrated that we wouldn't talk to him or go up and see him."
Steven Avery's prison ex-fiancé, Sandra Greenman, also shared that she is convinced of Avery's innocence. Despite the fact that the couple called it quits after Avery refused to convert to Christianity, according to Daily Mail's report. Greenman and Avery started dating after Avery was convicted of Halbach's murder, but Greenman stood by his side all throughout the trial.
US Weekly also released a report in regards to Sandra's stand. The website mentioned that Sandra was able to get an exclusive interview with Dr Phil last January 14.
Greenman told Dr Phil, "I personally believe that he's innocent, I needed to show him that I was behind him."
Greenman told Dr Ohil that, "I personally believe that he's innocent, I needed to show him that I was behind him."
