'Mean Girls' Quotes & 10th Anniversary: Top 10 Best Quotes & Other Interesting Facts About The Film
We hope you're wearing pink today.
March 30, 2014 marks the 10 year anniversary of "Mean Girls," and the movie still manages to be relevant in popular culture. Late last year, the White House tweeted a picture of Bo with a ball in his mouth. The tweet said, "Bo, stop trying to make fetch happen." Lindsay Lohan met up with some of her old co-stars and people were genuinely excited.
In honor of its 10th anniversary, here are some facts you may not have known:
1. The song Cady Heron knows at the end of the movie is "Built This Way" by Samantha Ronson, who Lindsay Lohan later dated. (via Thought Catalog)
2. Lindsay Lohan was not supposed to play Cady Heron. She was originally cast as Regina George, but she didn't want people to associate her with the character. Rachel McAdams was first considered too old for the role. "When Lindsay was acting Rachel, she got very shy because Rachel was older and a very accomplished actress," said director Mark Waters. "She'd come in the room and not talk to Lindsay -- she was very focused. Lindsay kind of got nervous around her, and I thought that, more than anything, was going to be the deciding factor, the fact that she affected Lindsay in that way.
3. Rachel McAdams was told to use Alec Baldwin's performance in "Glengarry Glen Ross" as inspiration. (via IMDB)
4. Cady Heron was named after feminist Elizabeth Cady Stanton. (via Thought Catalog)
5. Daniel Waters, who is director Mark Waters' older brother, wrote the screenplay for "Heathers," which is considered one of the movies that most influenced "Mean Girls."
The movie greatly reflects 2004, with the characters wearing shirts with sayings on them and the tracksuits that both Regina George and her mom wear. A 2014 version would surely have the Plastics wearing Louboutins and other recognizable brands. But the quotes are still perfect. Just look at 10 of the best ones:
10. "Four for you, Glenn Coco! You go, Glenn Coco!"
