Kanye West's Co-Writer Rhymefest Quits, Says Rapper Is Not 'Mentally Right'
One of Kanye West's longtime collaborators and co-writers had enough of the rapper's outspoken behavior. According to Rhymefest, West's erratic behavior makes it seems he needs "spiritual and mental help."
Rhymest took to his Twitter account two days before the Valentine's Day to share his love and concern for the man he treats as his own brother. "My brother needs help, in the form of counseling," he wrote on Twitter. "Spiritual & mental. He should step away from the public & yesmen & heal."
When a fan suggested he should help West write better lyrics, Rhymefest said that's not possible because West is not in a healthy state, spiritually and mentally.
He also clarified that he already stopped working with West since last month, before the release of the controversial music album, "The Life of Pablo."
"The Life of Pablo" included several tracks with lyrics degrading to females, such as Taylor Swift and Amber Rose. In the song "Famous," he described Swift as a bitch who he made famous and said that gives him the right to have sex with her.
In the song, "Father Stretch My Hands: Part I," he described Amber Rose as a model whom he met when he was high. She said she can get to anyone's skin if they let her. Even if he did not say Rose's name, many said it was quite obvious, as reported by Hollywood Life. He also has a song called "30 Hours" about an ex whom he dissed as well.
Both Swift and Rose have some form of relationship with West in the past. He publicly shamed Swift in the VMAs 2009, when he said, in not so many words, that she did not deserve the award. Amber Rose was his ex girlfriend.
Prior to these ruckus about his controversial songs, West also disappointed and angered a lot of fans when he said Bill Cosby is "innocent." Cosby is currently facing a lot of charges from women who claimed he drugged and sexually assaulted them.
All these made people dubious of West's mental health. Fans and stars alike said the actor's crazy statements make it hard to respect him.
Swift's loyal friends in particular, called out West, saying it is hard for them to support Kim Kardashian's husband. Ruby Rose in particular, go so irked that she said it is hard to support him and even be his friend.
While West did not react to the backlash he received for saying Cosby is innocent, he did try to defend himself by saying Swift approved of the lyrics in his song. Swift's camp denied these allegations and told People magazine that Swift even told West to be careful about releasing "misogynistic lyrics."
