For several weeks the Internet has been abuzz with rumors of Apple's new larger, 4.7-inch screen smartphone. Purportedly named the iPhone 6 (although some have suggested more creative names, such as the "iPhone Air"), the device is speculated to hit stores later this year, although nothing has been confirmed.

Numerous renderings and "leaks" of the iPhone 6 have come up in the last couple of months, but these latest mockups are perhaps the most realistic we've seen yet.

First off, French blog NowhereElse.fr posted a YouTube video showcasing a purported physical model of the new smartphone (shown below).

The white model matches the rumored specifications; it clearly has a larger display than what has been seen in previous iPhone incarnations, although it's hard to tell if the screen is 4.7 inches exactly. The model also has the rumored rounded edges and thin profile, and features the standard home button and Apple logo, as well as the lightning port and headphone jack at the bottom.

One noticeable difference is that the power button has relocated from the top of the device to side, which makes perfect sense given the increased size of the handset.

From the video, it seems the user handles the device pretty easily with one hand, which is a definite plus for Apple given their previous resistance of moving toward larger handsets. Many of the other smartphone manufacturers, such as Samsung, HTC and LG, have been criticized for producing handsets with large displays that are difficult to manage.

Photographs of yet another mock-up have also emerged online, posted by the Chinese website Feng. Similarly, this model also has the rounded edges, and the power button is no longer on the top of device. However, while most speculate this model will be based on the 4.7-inch device, MacRumors believes that this it is actually based on the even larger, 5.5 to 5.7-inch handset that Apple has also been reportedly working on.

According to MacRumors, "The design drawings show that the larger 5.5-5.7 inch iPhone 6's display is approximately 80 percent of the height of the device, while the 4.7-inch model's display is around 75 percent of the device height. The photos of the mock-up show lines delineating the display edges as putting the ratio closer to the 80 percent figure seen on the larger model."

Also, "Hand size obviously varies significantly from person to person, making comparisons difficult, but the physical mock-up simply looks very large in the hand. According to the design drawings, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is just 13 mm taller and 7.5 mm wider than the iPhone 5s, but the mock-up looks more like the larger iPhone 6 design, which is an additional 20 mm taller and 11 mm wider."

It's impossible to know for now if these models are accurate representations of either of Apple's final products. Only time will tell.
