Airbnb has been one of the top choices of travelers when looking for a place to stay. One of the latest offers from the accommodations site include spending a night at the famous “Murder House" from "American Horror Story."

The House History

The "Murder House," also known as the Alfred Rosenheim Mansion, was built in Los Angeles in 1908. Through the decades, the Tudor-style home in Arlington Heights has become one of the most notable properties in the city, being named a historical and cultural landmark. The house has collected several haunting tales and accommodated famous people after more than a century of existence. The scary estate also gained more attention after it became the central focus of the FX horror show “American Horror Story” Season 1. It has also been shown in other shows like “The Twilight Zone,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “The X-Files.”

The house was listed on AirBnb for a few hours, but has mysteriously been taken down as of this writing.

"Murder House" was made available at $1,450 per night. The place can house over 16 visitors in its nine bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The lot spans three-fourths of an acre and showcases Italian brickwork, stairwells, stained glass windows and mahogany walls. It has a billiards room, sun room, six fireplaces, a chapel, gym, recording studio and hidden room in the basement. Guests can also avail of cable TV, wireless internet, a washer and dryer.

A number of people immediately took the opportunity to stay at the fictional mansion and gave good reviews when the page was still up. One stated that the house was fantastic and had a lot of character due to its "long eventful life." Another described the house as soulful, with top class beds and sheets and a complete kitchen. Others commented that it was a great place to relax and contemplated on its architectural history.

Majestic and Ghost-Free

Although the mansion has been dubbed as one of the scariest places on earth, many visitors may be surprised to know that in reality, it is actually beautiful and free of ghosts. No real crimes happened in the California estate, although guests may find several familiar areas as these appeared in various TV shows.

The "Murder House" was bought by Angela Oakenfold for $3.2 million in March 2015. The Airbnb host provided in the description was listed as Angela, without a last name. There still is no news why the ad was taken down.
