'X-Men: Apocalypse' to Deviate From the Original Story?
Based on the previous “X-Men” films, fans will be watching the next segment, “X-Men: Apocalypse,” without any idea of what could happen. “X-Men: Days of Future Past” was actually one way for director Bryan Singer to undo the uneventful films released in the past.
Time’s Immutability
Singer shared that he had to reboot his own movie. By restarting the entire universe, he was able to create a clean slate where anything can happen. However, the theory of time being immutable by Hank McCoy/Beast remained. This is for Singer to keep providing prequels that will shape the future story and also maintain the credibility of the previously released movies.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is apparently causing a lot of damage before the X-Men can improve the situation. A number of heroes like Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Angel (Ben Hardy) teamed up with the powerful villain to dominate the world instead of battling the latter. The upcoming plot is supposed to be fully foreign to the original version, although viewers will still find several similarities among the characters.
Singer emphasized time’s immutability and how he is working with it for the prequel. He stated that they erased the storylines to allow anything to happen. It means that anyone can die although the characters are all going towards their immutable place. Also, when time is altered, the future can also change but everything is not certain.
Writer Simon Kinberg agreed that anything can happen to any character. He said that the opportunity to erase “X1,” “X2” and “X3” gave them the filmmaking capacity to do anything they want. They previously did it with “Days of Future Past” and can do it again. In “Days,” the idea that only a single timeline exists was presented. However, the appearance of Apocalypse can change the concept all over again. Although time travel has been added to the story, the ending may still be very much the same.
Returning Characters
Some of the characters will reportedly be reprised in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Angel will particularly have more screen time, considering that he is one of the main villain’s Four Horsemen. He was featured with his redesigned steel wings. James McAvoy will play Professor Charles Xavier again, although he is expected to go bald as the movie progresses. Teenagers Scott Summers/Cyclops and Jean Grey will be meeting at the school. Other characters who will appear include Nightcrawler, Jubilee and Havoc.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is set to launch on May 27, 2016.
