Call of Duty Advanced Warfare News: Kevin Spacey Stars in New Activision Trailer, Reveal Coming May 4? [Video]
Following a leak on the website Destructoid, Activision has officially revealed the next game in the hugely popular Call of Duty series, Advanced Warfare.
The action-packed trailer features a character voiced by and based on the likeness actor Kevin Spacey. The character gives a lengthy diatribe about the futility of trying to bring democracy to countries that don't desire it.
"Democracy? Democracy is not what these people need, hell it's not even what they want," he says. "America has been trying to install democracy in nations for over a century, and it hasn't worked one time!"
According to a trusted source at Destructoid, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare "revolves around a soldier of fortune group run by Spacey's character that has turned on the United States government." Judging by the trailer, Spacey intends to us this group to wage war on the U.S. and other nations begging to be taken over and controlled. By who? Him, of course.
Kevin Spacey does seem perfect for the role of an egotistical villain seeking world domination. Assuming he is the villain of course, and if the trailer and Spacey's track record are anything to go by, it seems more than likely.
Another video released in tandem with VICE, strongly hinted that the next game will center on a private military corporation who "stops taking orders and start taking over." It seems a safe bet that Spacey will be the one in charge of this corporation.
Aside from the storyline, the gameplay looks to feature new futuristic styles of armed combat. The trailer shows soldiers with superhuman exo-skeletons, gloves that allow them to scale walls and buildings, aircraft vehicles with cloaking technology, and hover bikes.
Activision originally hinted that a worldwide reveal of the game was coming on Sunday, May 4. However, Destructoid's leak likely spoiled that. Fans will have to wait to see if Sunday brings any new information to the table.
