Siri, Apple's intelligent personal assistant, will come to the next version of Mac OS X this year.

Mac's new operating system called OS X 10.12 will be unveiled in June at Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference. The tech giant has been carrying out test versions of OS X internally with Siri integration since 2012. According to sources, Apple now has a refined user interface for the feature.

Apple will reportedly add the Siri button on Mac's menu bar, which is located beside the clock and Spotlight icon. Users can simply press the button to activate the interface. Mac's Siri is also expected to have an always-listening feature, like the one seen on the iPhones.

When you ask Siri questions, its answers will be shown on the desktop's corner in a semi-transparent black window, which bears close resemblance to Siri's interface on mobile devices.

Check out this Siri mock-up. It showcases colorful sound waves representing speech input. The design, however, is still being tested and may still undergo changes before its introduction in the summer.

In addition, Mac's Siri will have its own pane in System Preferences, and users will be given options to pick a keyboard shortcut to activate the interface. Sources claimed that users will be able to use Siri at the initial startup of OS X 10.12.

There's a possibility that a public beta will be released over the summer prior to OS X 10.12's first look release in June. A full launch is expected to arrive in October.

Siri in Other Platforms

Siri made its debut on the iPhone 4S back in 2011. Aside from Apple's mobile devices, the interface is also present on the iPad, Apple TV and Apple Watch.

Siri is now an essential part of the Apple TV. With the help of the feature, users can now choose content, skip songs and identify celebrities, among others. By pressing and holding the microphone button on the Apple TV's remote, users can play, pause, rewind or fast-forward a movie.

You can also ask Siri to put on subtitles for you and make recommendations on which TV show or movie to watch next.

OS X 10.12 -- Expected Features

OS X 10.12, which bears the codename "Fuji," comes with minor user interface tweaks across core system application windows. The changes, however, are not as noteworthy as what was seen in the OS X Yosemite update that rolled out in 2014.

In addition, Apple is developing its engineering procedures focused on performance. This was highlighted in OS X El Capitan last year.
