Fifth Harmony Show More Mature Side With New Single and Video, Twitter Reacts
Pop group Fifth Harmony got fans all excited on social media by releasing the first single off of their upcoming sophomore album, as well as the song's official music video.
On Feb. 26, the group released the single "Work From Home" on iTunes with the track's music video.
In the highly anticipated track, which features rapper Ty Dolla $ign, the group seductively tease boyfriends about staying home to work in the bedroom. The video features all five members dancing in a construction site while attractive construction workers do a variety of jobs.
Prior to the song's release, during several interviews, the group gave fans a heads up about their more mature content and the new sound they would feature in their second album.
Normani Kordei revealed why they chose the song as their first single from "7/27," their follow-up to "Reflection."
“[‘Work From Home’] just made sense after ‘Worth It’ because they have similar styles, but they’re still different,” Kordei told Entertainment Weekly. "And just creatively, we think it’s a really cool song. It’s chill, it’s not too much. The beat just rides. There’s something electrifying about it. It’s sexy, but it’s cool.”
After the release, many people took to Twitter to express their excitement.

The girl group even received praise from fellow pop singer Becky G, who shared her support soon after the song's release.
@FifthHarmony YES!!!! #WorkFromHome is 100% — Becky G. (@iambeckyg) February 26, 2016
Some, however, didn't like the song or the music video, as one Twitter user expressed in Spanish. Another compared the track to Rihanna's "Work."
Realmente no soy de ese fandom pero este video y canción no me han llamado la atención ni me han gustado en lo absoluto #WorkFromHome — Fernanda (@Fer_Martinez02) February 26, 2016
Oh Fifth Harmony, #WorkFromHome is a 180 from your previous statements about being strong independent women. #MixedMessages — Evan Watkins (@EvanWatkins83) February 26, 2016
Fifth Harmony's new song is basically Rihanna's new song except 1000x worse — sydney rose (@lamesyd) February 26, 2016
It is so unfortunate that 5H's #workfromhome has the same EXACT chorus as Rihanna's #work — meow (@EmileeLindner) February 26, 2016
Regardless of a few haters, the majority of fans seem to love the song and have helped get the song to the No. 5 spot on iTunes only four hours after its release.
