Lil Wayne finally released the first single, "Believe Me" featuring Drake, off his much-anticipated final solo album "Tha Carter V" on Friday (May 2).

The New Orleans rapper previously teased the Drake-assisted track for several days last week, including Kobe Bryant revealing the album's art work and Floyd Mayweather sharing exclusive footage of the studio session via Instagram, when the Young Money duo was recording it. Wayne also performed his new record the night after its release at the Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana fight in Las Vegas.

Produced by Boi-1da and Vinylz, Tunechi and Drizzy exchange verses back-to-back over an eerily rolling piano loop mixed with choppy drum kicks on their latest collaboration. The Toronto rapper addresses his mentor as well as his career progression, spitting about how other rappers do not see his potential yet, just pushing him over the edge.

Boi-1da elaborated on how the beat unexpectedly came together. "Vinylz had a beat and told me to check it out [so] I just added a few things to it and I pretty much sent it over to Drake when it was done," he said. "Then like, I don't know what went on but suddenly, maybe like a month later, Drake and Wayne had the record. I think he must've brought the beat to Wayne and then they worked on the record together."

The same thing went for Vinylz, as he had no idea how the instrumental would be used. "We just knew the record happened, but we didn't know the record would be the first single," he admitted. The producer added that the beat was made in hopes to create a new, different sound compared to other music he heard recently.

"A lot of people complain about rappers these days sounding the same and using the same flows, but the producers are also responsible for that too because they're making the same type of beats," said Vinylz. "So, it ends up making the rapper just wanna do the same shit. So every time we work, we just try something brand new."

Lil Wayne and Drake have frequently put their rap skills on showcase in the past with a number of notable collaborations, including "No New Friends," "The Language" and "Started from the Bottom," which is also produced by the two beat makers. Boi-1da talked about how it cannot go wrong with the usual collaborators coming together. "It's that Drake and Wayne combination," he said. "I feel like when both of them get on a record together, they don't usually fail, man. They're like 10 for 10 with records they've done together and this is just another banger."
