MLB: The Show 14 for Playstation 4 was just released May 6 and gamers are noticing the visual improvements in the game versus the Playstation 3 version.

Here are some of the features that gamers will see when playing the newest version of MLB: The Show 14.

Stadiums Completely Re-Designed

The stadiums and the members in the crowds have been completely re-built to create a much more realistic experience. The creators of the game put as much detail into the fans as they did on the players in the PS3 version. The fans won't all look the same, they will have varying clothes and even kids will be in the crowd. In the PS3 version, all the crowd members were adults.

Scoreboards Look Much Better

The scoreboards will show rust and the out-of-town scores won't look so fake and flat. Instead, you'll be able to see the metal plates they use to put up the score. The brick walls will look realistic and crumbly, like real bricks!

Blades of Grass and Beards

The PS4 version of The Show will use individually rendered blades of grass and hairs on player's faces. No longer will the beards look pasted on the ballplayers' faces. The grass will look incredibly realistic as well.

Lighting and Shadow Improvements

A better lighting engine will allow light to bounce of the players much better. Light will reflect differently when it hits a player's jersey than it will when it hits their glove. Also, shadows will be added for the PS4 version. Depending on whether it's a day or night game, the player's shadow will appear as it would in real life. In the PS3 version, shadows were skipped completely.

Online Play Still Choppy

It's still early, but users are reporting choppy online gameplay with the PS4 version of The Show. This is similar to the troubles they had in the PS3 version.

300 New Fielding Animations

This seems like a lot, but it's not that much. The PS3 version has 60,000 different moves. Every slight difference in delivery, footwork and glovework makes the game even more realistic.

Crowd and Ambient Noise, But No Commentary Upgrade

The crowd noise and in-game sounds you will hear will get an update from the previous versions of the game. Unfortunately, the commentary in the game did not get in upgrade and is often repetitive.

Overall, it's a much better, crisper game with tons of details, but it's The Show's first try on PS4. Expect the game to continue getting better year after year.
