Daniel Craig is out and odds-makers predict Tom Hiddleston could be in as the next James Bond.

Oddschecker has installed the Cambridge educated Hiddleston as a 2/5 favorite to land the next role as Agent 007.

Craig Rumored as Highest Paid Bond Actor in History

Purported to be the highest-paid actor to ever assume the Bond role, the 48-year-old Craig recently insisted to reporters he would rather "slash my wrists" than star in another Bond film, even though MGM studio execs were rumored to have offered him as much as $68 million to star in just two more films.

In all, Craig is rumored to have earned at least $38 million from the four Bond films he starred in.

"Daniel is done, pure and simple," a source told reporters. "He told top brass at MGM after 'Spectre.' They threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn't what he wanted."

With Craig's criticisms of the entire Bond franchise only growing louder, word is MGM has finally decided to move on, which could be where Hiddleston comes in. Th3 35-year-old British born actor previously starred as Loki in the film "Thor and the Avengers."

Part of Craig's reluctance to return as Bond could also stem from a lingering knee injury he suffered while filming a "Spectre" fight scene.

"With knee problems and general exhaustion, he felt it was a journey with an ending," a source added. Prior to the Bond series, Craig was best known for starring in the thriller "Layer Cake" and being Angelina Jolie's love interest in "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider."

Lengthy List of Potential Replacements

Besides Craig, Aidan Turner, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavilli, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, John Boyega, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Orlando Bloom are all considered potential options as the next 007.

Previous Bond stars include Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, George Lazenby, David Niven and Barry Nelson.
