Selena Gomez admits this is the time of year she's often reminded of one of her biggest regrets.

"I wanted to go on prom," the now 23-year-old former one-time star who's been cast in the spotlight since she was just 10 recently shared. "People are like 'Oh, you'd be disappointed.' But I was like, 'I want to go on prom.'"

Gomez on Record as Having no Regrets

The "Hands to Myself" singer recently insisted she has no regrets about her life as a child star, essentially adding that she wouldn't have had it any other way.

"I chose this," she said. "So I'm not gonna sit here and say, 'Oh, my God, poor me. I didn't have a normal childhood.' I don't give a f--k about that."

That's not to say that Justin Bieber's on-again, off-again ex doesn't sometimes crave what she views as normal.

"There's a balance to life that I think is normal and I think what we do and what I love is, for me, normal," she said. "But it isn't actually when you look at it."

It's all left Gomez feeling a great deal of sympathy for those most like her.

"We're easy targets," she recently said of young child stars. "Every single kid who was brought up like this is an easy target. It's disgusting, because it's interesting to grown adults that these kids go through weird things because they're figuring out, 'Do I like this? Do I love this?'"

Gomez's Star Rising

Through it all, Gomez influence and popularity only seems to be growing. She recently signed on with Freeform to executive produce a TV drama series billed as a Latina "Empire."

In addition, she was recently branded the most followed person on Instagram with at least 69.1 million followers, just a shade more than gal-pal Taylor Swift who counts 69 million followers.
