Ecuador vs. Haiti Copa America 2016 Preview, Predictions, Schedule, Streaming Info as Ecuador Looks To Advance With Win
Ecuador and Haiti will finish up their group play on Sunday in the Copa America 2016.
Ecuador's clinching scenarios
Ecuador enters the matchup with with only two points but can put itself into the second round with a strong win over Haiti. If Ecuador wins the game by more than two goals and the Brazil-Peru match ends in a draw, then Ecuador would go through to the next round as the second place team. If Ecuador wins the game by more than six goals and the other group game ends in a draw, then Ecuador would go through as the first place team in Group B. An Ecuador win coupled with a victory by any of the two teams in the other group would mean that Ecuador is through as the second place side.
Ecuador rallies versus Peru
Ecuador started off poorly against Peru, falling behind 2-0 in the first half. Fortunately the team managed a bit turnaround late in the first half and wound up drawing level early in the second half. From there, Ecuador pushed and pushed throughout the match looking for the winner that never came.
Haiti is out
Haiti is coming off a painful 7-1 defeat against Brazil, eliminating them from further contention after Sunday's match. Haiti lost its opener against Peru 1-0 but looked valiant and defiant at times in the defeat. Against Brazil Haiti looked lost and defeat from the get-go, simply not rising to the occasion and allow Brazil to have its way throughout.
Player to Watch
This Ecuadorian side is loaded with talented, but Jefferson Montero is definitely the man to keep an eye out for. He terrorized Peru's right wing the entire night, dribbling with tremendous freedom and creating chances ruthlessly.
History favors Ecuador
The Ecuadorians have won three against Haiti but have also lost two. Haiti's last win over Ecuador came in 2002 while the South Americans defeated the Caribbean side in 2008.
Prediction
Ecuador finishes the deed, taking down Haiti 3-0.
