Gilberto Santa Rosa and Victor Manuelle have honored Cheo Feliciano through song.

The two have recorded a new version of "Canta" in honor of the singer who recently passed away. In Santa Rosa's official page, he explained that Louis Garcia also worked on the song and that it will be performed next month at the June 21 concert in his honor, which will be held in Puerto Rico, Terra reported.

The song was composed by Rafael Hernandez and recorded by Feliciano in 1976 for his album "El Cantante."

Santa Rosa said that though Feliciano was gone, his spirit "will always live through his music." He said recording this song with his protege Victor Manuelle had "great meaning" in his career.

"I have no doubt that this song will fill many with memories and in others awaken an interest in learning more about the history of our popular music," he said.

Manuelle added that he was "very happy" to get the opportunity to record the song, which he said popularized music that was both relaxed but profound, and that Feliciano "imparted to his songs and he left us as his legacy."

Cheo Feliciano died in a car crash at the age of 78.

He was in Puerto Rico driving home from a casino and died shortly after 4 a.m. His Jaguar hit an electricity pole.

"It seems he lost control on a curve that he was taking and he hit the pole," police said, according to TV Y Novelas. "Unfortunately, we're talking about our Cheo Feliciano."

His son arrived on the scene and also had a few words to share about Feliciano.

"Daddy is for life because he has left us his music, his heart, his town, his people," he said. "‘Family,' as daddy said. Thank God that we have his music to remember him by."
