Star Wars Episode 8 Rumors, New: Reasons Why Rey's Father Will Not Be Revealed in New Movie
"Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" left audiences wondering a lot about the future of the franchise.
The biggest question to go unanswered is the heritage and parentage of the franchise's new main character Rey. There were virtually no clues left by the new movie and the reality is that most people are anticipating for information in the upcoming film "Episode VIII."
Here are a few things to anticipate from Episode VIII regarding Rey's backstory.
It will all be revealed in Episode IX
The obvious answer is that Disney and Lucasfilm know about the fan expectations and will look to dash them yet again, leaving them waiting for more information. That should benefit multiple viewings of Episode VIII as fans look for any tiny clue they might have missed the first time around.
We will get some new information
That said, we will get some nuggets of wisdom that fans will be clamoring over and discussing for time to come. There might be a few hints in her interactions with other characters, but nothing will be definitive.
There will be more confusion around the subject
Luke Skywalker is the top candidate for the role of Rey's father, but even if this is true and there are hints, expect there to be rebuttals and other evidence to prove the contrary. It wouldn't be fun without some controversy or contradiction.
Rey's story will not be central to this plot
While we will get some new information, it would not be surprising to see Rey's backstory get largely ignored in the larger context. There are a number of new characters joining the fray including a new heroine that John Boyega called the "real protagonist of the film." This will allow the filmmakers to sidestep some of the pertinent reveals about Rey.
There could be an Empire Strikes Back Moment
I know that it says above that Episode IX will be the film that spills the beans, but it is still possible that the new move trips up the viewer the way that Episode V did back in 1980.
