Hurricane Matthew caused extreme damage hitting Haiti with 175 miles per hour together with dangerous flooding.

Reports state that there are at least 9 dead due to the storm which might bring landslides and flooding. The storm could hit Southeastern US as per The Telegraph.

With a rainfall up to 15 to 25 inches, the storm was powerful and slow moving. South western Haiti experience more than 1 meter of rainfall in some mountain areas. According to EN.IR.-Q many of Haiti's 11 million people live in flimsy homes.

After the massive earthquakes in 2010 thousands remain in tents and other temporary housing. Haiti was destroyed twice by Hurricanes in the 18th century. It is stated that the Haitian port town Les Cayes was hit hard by hurricane Matthew.

It appears that rains of 20 to 40 meters are expected; Dennis Feltgen a meteorologist from the US Hurricane Centre stated that the conditions were extremely dangerous. Residents have been urged to evacuate before the storm's arrival.

The situation in Les Cayes is shattering as the city is flooded with trees lying in all around the place making it difficult to even move. The wind has created a huge damage destroying many houses. The poorest country on the continent faces a massive damage from the storm.

Communications are out across all over Haiti. The main bridge to cross has become impossible because the river is swollen due to the floods. There could be more casualties as there are still areas that need to be identified by the storm's damage.

Precautions have been taken and desperate measures to rescue civilians, but the people of Haiti have no other option than moving out in advance before the arrival of the storm. By the late afternoon the Hurricane had hit the eastern tip on Cuba and is possible to head towards Florida later this week.
