Google Chromecast Ultra vs Roku Premiere+: Which should you buy?
Google recently unveiled the new Chromecast Ultra in San Francisco and is set to be available from November to buy. The new Chromecast is featured with 4K streaming and HDR picture quality and it's going to be a good alternative for Roku Premiere+.
A fair comparison between Google Chromecast Ultra and Roku Premiere+ is discussed so that it helps you to decide which one is the best choice for you
Google Chromecast Ultra:
- Unlike the Chromecast , the Chromecast Ultra only available in black lemon and coral are no longer an option.
- The Chromecast Ultra tucks away neatly behind your television and only the charging cable and Ethernet cable (should you choose to one) will be visible.
- When it comes to hardware, Google Chromecast will stream 4K and include HDR picture quality which lesser streaming devices will not.
- Google says the Chromecast Ultra is 1.8 times faster than the previous model but successful streaming of 4K content will depend on the service from your ISP and whether you're using the Wi-Fi or wired connection. Netflix recommends 25mb/s for smooth 4K playback.
- Google Chromecast offers wired networking ports with that a power adaptor Ethernet ports to make this connection even easier.
- Google Chromecast supports high-quality sound output. It is controlled via your phone or tablet
using the Google cast app .
- Chromecast Ultra offers access from a variety of providers including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and its also supports music, radio, games and a variety of different apps available on Google play.
Roku Premiere+:
- Roku Premiere+ makes its appearance in a sleep back units that harks to the traditional set-top box style.
- The Roku Premiere+ boasts streaming and upscaling of 720p and 1080p content to 4k on capable Ultra HD televisions. On the other hand the Chromecast Ultra also provisions of Dolby vision which the Roku Premiere+ does not.
- Roku Premiere+ offers wired networking ports and supports 802.11ac MIMO dual-band wireless. It has the added advantage of a microSD card slot for additional channel storage.
- In audio Roku Premiere+ has included the option of 'night listening mode'and 'private listening' option.
- Roku Premiere+ is controlled using Roku's mobile app which boasts voice search capability and easy access.
- It has the advantage of offering Amazon Video out of the box where the Google Chromecast does not offer.
Price:
The Google Chromecast Ultra is set to retail at $69 when it launches but Roku Premiere+ at the slightly higher price of $99.99
If you have the affordability then Chromecast Ultra is a sensible choice but if you are looking for easier content and access Roku Premiere is a good choice.
