Aaron Carter: the truth about his Family, Drugs and Depression exposure
Who could have forgotten the charming hit singer of "I'm All About You" and "Crush On You" back in late 90s and early 2000s? The child star sweetheart undeniably captured the hearts of many teenage girls during the prime time of his career. But many asks, where is Aaron Carter now?
As reported by Perez Hilton, the 28-year-old singer and songwriter exposed his life and career recently in the new episode of "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" Carter said that his life got into a mess when his parents decided to separate for good. He loved his family being together a lot and the breakup dragged him to depression.
The childstar crooner said that he cannot even begin to imagine his family going separate ways. He tried to find ways to block it out of his mind. He started self-medicating, partying and getting into a lot of trouble. He admitted bluntly, "I went broke." In 2011, Carter reappeared on screen when he joined "Dancing With the Stars" which drove him from severe depression, however despite ranking in 5th, the show failed to draw record labels and revive his music career.
"They were not interested in me. They had no interest in me. They didn't want to touch me." he said of record holders. In the same year, Carter decided to move near his brother's house Nick to seek help and attention. Nick Carter is also a well-known singer, and was by then engaged to creating music with his famous boy band Backstreet Boys. Not later after he got in touch with his family, he checked into Betty Ford Center with the help of his mother where he spent a month of rehabilitation.
Carter also decided to file for bankruptcy with less than $9000 of total assets, after accruing $2.2millions worth of debt. Much of it was his childhood fame's unpaid taxes.
Following the sad events of his life, his sister Leslie died of a drug overdose in 2012. "I actually reached out to her two weeks before that and I said I'm going to get you the money to go to rehab. She wanted it and her phone got cut off."
"I think out of all the experiences and all the things that happened with my sister's passing, I just learned that life means so much to me and more than just money and fame," said Carter in an E! News report. In 2014, Carter recuperated his finances and settled his accounts, according to TMZ.
Aaron Carter is now busy in his world tour and is in fact planning on getting new music for his fans.
