LeBron James joins the top 10 all-time NBA scorers; surpasses Hakeem Olajuwon
Saturday night - LeBron James made another milestone in his career as he joins an exclusive clubs for scorers. James scored 25 points passing Hakeem Olajuwon for the 10th spot on the NBA all-time scoring list as the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Philadelphia by a score of 102-101 and remained unbeaten.
James added 8 rebounds and 14 assists, while Kevin Love added twenty points and 11 rebounds. The Philadelphia 76ers was led by Joel Embiid having 22 points, winless at 0-5, and the ball has turned over three times to ensure the victory of the Cavaliers in the final minute and now have 6-0.
The four-time Most Valuable Player LeBron James scored on a fast-break layup in 6:02 minutes remaining in the first quarter against 76ers to move ahead of one point over Olajuwon's career, a total of 26,946 points for 'King' James. He only took 993 career games over the 14 season to exceed Hakeem who needed to achieve his total in 1,238 games over 18 seasons.
In an interview, James' shared statements about the achievement during the Saturday game and said that he just played with a lot of great teammates that allowed him to do what he can do on the floor and it is an evidence to him that he takes care of his body and just working on his craft throughout his career. Olajuwon and James have worked together back in 2011 and he knew that Hakeem is working those who wanted to get better and James wanted to expand his game in the low post cause he felt if he can do that then he could be more dynamic and make their team better, ABS-CBN News has reported.
For the next all-time scoring list, James needs to transcend Elvin Hayes with 27,313 points. On top of Elvin Hayes are Moses Malone having 27,409 points and Shaquille O'Neal having 28.569 points. According to CBS sports, James could possibly surpass both Hayes and Moses Malone and even O'Neal this season.
Over the top 10, only NBA players; LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan were the players that aren't power forwards domination inside games or centers. James wanted to improve his team even if they're unbeaten and off to their best start since the opening 8-0 in 1976.
