New Toblerone design rocks UK fans; many aren't happy with change
Toblerone, one of the world's best-known chocolate brands known for its signature triangular shape, has now made alterations due to higher costs for numerous ingredients. Toblerone has made the decision to add more space in between their distinctive triangular chocolate chunks.
The tough part is that Toblerone fans haven't taken kindly to the change - the chocolate remains the same in taste but the there's more space between each triangular shape. Some customers have already stated that it was a wrong decision and a wrong move because the bigger spaces look "stupid."
The change was made by the chocolate company to reduce the weight of what were 400g and 170g bars, as reported by BBC. The 170g bars have been reduced to 150g and the 400g bars to 360g. It's still not known if this change only applies to the UK. But it's sure that the change was done after a tough decision.
The size of the package has remained the same and the company stated that they chose to change the shape and to keep the product affordable for their customers. It appears that the change didn't really go well, as customers took the Toblerone Facebook page questioning them why there are gaps between the triangles instead on reducing the length of the bars.
Toblerone, sold by Mondelez International, is one of UK's best-selling chocolate. It seems that the change might cause some damage to sales. Most fans have given negative remarks, with some commenting on social media saying that it looks like a bicycle stand, as per Time.
A particular tweet by Mark Greenwood said "#toblerone #brexit I told you that leaving the EU would have serious consequences. Now I'm really upset."
They certainly are upset as it seems to be, but people have also tweeted that one can always rely on the great British public to put things back into perspective.
