Tony Romo Assures Not Turning down Career; Accept Dak Prescott as Dallas Cowboys Quarterback
On Tuesday, Tony Romo read a prepared statement and did not take questions prior to his awaited return on Sunday as a backup of Dak Prescott, the rookie quarterback. Romo recognizes that he is already way behind to the rookie quarterback after he broke a bone in his back during the preseason game on August 25.
According to SB Nation, after the August 25 game in Seattle, the NFL star, Tony Romo lost his job and no one knows about it. Neither Romo nor the Dallas Cowboys thought that it would cost him time, right after the injury took place people have noticed how good Dak Prescott plays. He then takes over as the starter and looked in relief of Romo.
Romo said that the rookie player, Prescott deserved the starting role after he leads the Cowboys with eight consecutive wins. The star player accepted the fact that Prescott is their new quarterback as he admitted that it was hard for him to say it but he guided their team to an 8-1 record and it is a hard thing to do.
Tony Romo is not addressing his future but he assures that he is not turning down his career. He even guaranteed that he would continue to guide Prescott and he would not get in the path of his team's accomplishment this season, reported USA Today.
In his prepared statement, he elaborated how hard it was for him to let down everybody when they looked up to him and depend on him in bringing them a championship. He also pointed out that is what quarterbacks' task and that is how they were judged. It was a soul-crushing moment for him when he feels like it is the best team he ever had.
Tony Romo does not have the real ability now to help his teammates to win on the field. The only thing he can do right now is to see what is really happening.
"It's not easy to watch," he says before adding, "I think anybody who is been in this position understands that."
