Is Liverpool back in the Premier League title race? Captain Steven Gerrard thinks that the team can surely make a run.

Liverpool is coming off a dominating 5-1 win over Arsenal at home. The team scored four goals in the opening 20 minutes and has looked increasingly comfortable playing at home. Gerrard thought the win was one of the best he has been a part of with the club.

"I am trying to think back of a performance -- especially in the first half -- that I can remember in the last 15 years," he said, according to ESPN. "Maybe one or two in the Champions League got close but that was as explosive as it gets. That is right up there: definitely in the top three performances I have been involved in."

He noted that the performance was all the more impressive because of the team that Liverpool took down.

"You are talking about a side that is top of the league with world-class players, ones who are worth 42 million pounds; Jack Wilshere, one of the country's big hopes who we are looking to perform at a World Cup; (Santi) Cazorla -- a World Cup winner," he stated. "We have absolutely demolished a top team there from start to finish."

With the win, Liverpool has 50 points and is six behind first place Chelsea. It is still too early to determine whether the Reds can catch up, but at least the team can be happy that it remains among the top four sides and will likely be headed to the Champions League next season.
