Is Jese Rodriguez earning himself a spot in the upcoming World Cup?

Spain's biggest problem has been finding a striker that can finish; this issue has limited the team's offensive punch in the final third and left them vulnerable against strong defensive sides. The team even struggled in a recent loss against South Africa in which coach Vicente del Bosque was at a loss at the forward position. The coach used David Villa, Alvaro Negredo and Fernando Llorente up top, hoping for some answer; none of those players contributed despite enjoying solid years with their respective clubs.

Now Jese seems to be getting some attention from the coach.

"All of the players who we have been looking at and who have been playing well are potential candidates for the national team," Del Bosque said, according to Goal.com. "I don't like to single out any one player in particular or mention any names but in general, a number of players have the possibility of being called up and Jese is amongst them."

Jese is expected to become a major star for Spain, but many believed the 20-year-old would be among the top players for his nation in 2018. However, Spain's starvation for a productive striker coupled with the youngster's ascendancy have turned out to be a perfect situation for both sides. He has been terrific for Real Madrid this year with three goals and three assists in 13 Spanish League matches; he only started in one of those three games. Furthermore, he has three goals in seven Copa del Rey matches, including a terrific effort against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. He is well known for his imposing presence, his blazing speed and his potent shot; comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo have been common.

Should Jese be on Spain's 23-man team for this summer's World Cup?
