The Naruto Shippuden anime series will continue in 2017, and with it the much-awaited Boruto arc. Focused on the son of Naruto and Hinata, the upcoming arc will show the adventures of the next generation of Konoha.

Teased in the recent Jump Fiesta 2016 through a video clip, details about it are few and far in between. What has been known at the moment is that the anime will be based on the manga, while an original story will be played out for Team Konohamaru, consisting of Boruto, Sarada and Mitsuki. According to University Herald, part of the anime will feature Bonuto up against Kinshiki and Momoshiko, as portrayed in the manga.

It has been evident that the animation staff is putting effort into keeping Naruto Shippuden running, which is currently playing some filler episodes. The main story ended when Naruto attained the two things he was chasing after since the premiere of the anime and mange: to be a Hokage of Konoha, and to be accepted by the people around him.

After the main story, the boyhood arc was introduced, looking into the lives of several characters in the village of Konoha. As of the moment, the production staff is fleshing out the light novel 'Sasuke Sinden: Book of Sunrise.' Written by Shin Towada, this looks into the journey of Sasuke after the Fourth Shinobi War, iTech Post reports.

Boruto is the older one of Naruto and Hinata's children, the other being Himawari. First seen on chapter 700 in the manga, his physical appearance, as well as attitude, resembles that of his father. From the unruly yellow hair, the blue eyes, to the whisker-like marks on his face, he seems to be a replica of Naruto. Attitude-wise, while the two share the love of playing pranks, Boruto drifted away from his father due to his lack of family time, as Naruto became the Seventh Hokage. He is mentored by Sasuke Uchiha, which creator Masashi Kishimoto likened to Dragon Ball's Gohan and Piccolo.
