"Star Citizen" Has Left Crytek's CryEngine to Amazon's Lumberyard: Crytek situation Leads To Shutting down Its 5 International Studios
The game "Star Citizen" of Christ Robert is one of the most financially successful crowdfunding. After four years of development and a lot of delays occurred, in a recent press release, the game is finally shifting from CryEngine game engine into Amazon's Lumberyard along with "Squadron 42."
Cloud Imperium Games decided and pursued to take the games "Star Citizen," and "Squadron 42" into Lumberyard game engine. The developers continue to develop the game under Amazon as the 2.6 Alpha of "Star Citizen" is already running on the new engine. Christ Roberts, the creative director, and CEO of Cloud Imperium Games stated they have been working hand in hand with Amazon for more than a year now, Extreme Tech has reported.
They have been looking for a technology leader to partner with long term commitments for the future of the Squadron 42 and Star Citizen. The Amazon provides what Christ Robert is wanted especially the free 3D engine that merely provides deep back-end cloud integration on the AWS having Twitch sponsorship for building a global connection to gamers in different countries.
Roberts thinks that it was an excellent feature to boost the "Squadron 42" and even for their primary online games. Roberts further claimed that the switching process into Amazon has been easy and smooth for the team. With the recent situation, the predecessor engine for Squadron 42 and Star Citizen has recently announced that the Crytek Studios will refurbish its core technologies.
According to Polygon, the Studio will be revamping the CryEngine wherein Crytek has left with the decision of shutting down its five international studios except for Germany, Frankfurt, Ukraine, and Kiev. According to Crytek's co-founder and managing director, Avni Yerli, he elaborated that their focus now is how to strengthen again the definition of their company, Crytek as the state-of-the-art technology, world-class developers, and innovative development.
Yerli further stated that the company believes that this challenging time is preparing them to be more successful in the near future. Meanwhile, the game "Star Citizen" will be running on Linux and Windows. The "Squadron 42" is a multiplayer campaign of the online game but the two are still on development stage and hasn't still release date yet.
