Epic Games Reveals Developing Unreal Engine Based Games For The Nintendo Switch
Reports say that a lot of Switch games that are getting developed in the recent times use Unreal Engine. It is indeed not surprising to hear that the developers of Nintendo Switch games are as well using the Unreal Engine to develop their games. This is because Unreal Engine is one of the most widely used game engines in the market. It is, however, interesting to hear such a news from the game makers themselves at Epic games.
The Changed Notion About Third Party Engines
It is notable that in an interview in 2013 when Unreal Engine 4 was on its cusp and Nintendo had just launched its new console Wii U and was already having little trouble with game development, Epic games' Mark Rein felt that it was ridiculous to even think of Wii U running on third party development community like Unreal Engine 4. This shows how third-party engines were seen as a joke a few years ago and today they are found in many of the games. It is indeed interesting to see how things have changed over the years.
Epic Games To Develop Unreal Engine Based Nintendo Switch Titles
According to the reports by Nintendo Everything the Territory Manager of Epic Games Japan, Takayuki Kawasaki said to Japanese magazine Social VR Info that a number of game titles that are presently being developed for the Nintendo Switch Console are running on Unreal Engine.
According to VG247, Takayaki also said that the Unreal Engine would be coming to many Japanese games as well. He even expressed his hopes on the Nintendo Switch console to bring back the Japanese gaming industry to live, said the report.
Unreal Engine Based Japanese Titles For The Switch
GamingBolt reports that previously announced Nintendo Switch games that have not been divulged are also included into the list along with the new ones. The report also shows that many Japanese game makers may indulge in making multi-platform games. 'Season of Heaven', an indie game that runs on the Unreal Engine has already been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch console. 'Dragon Quest 11' is also based on the Unreal Engine.
Switch Release Date And Other Updates
Reports suggest that players can look for more Japanese Games based on the third party engine to come to the Switch in the future. The Nintendo Switch is slated for release in March and it is expected that the company will reveal details about its launch line-up as early as next week.
