NBA Playoffs 2014 Bracket, Standings & Schedule: Miami Rebounds to Tie Series; San Antonio Spurs Look to Take 2-0 Lead
The defending NBA Champions defeated the Indiana Pacers in game two 87-83 to tie the series 1-1.
Dwyane Wade and LeBron James completely took over the game by scoring 22 of the teams 25 points in the fourth and final quarter. Wade shot a perfect 5-5 in fourth quarter and even grabbed the most offensive rebounds on the team.
The Heat trailed most of the game, but not by much. It wasn't until the fourth quarter that they took complete control. Pacers guard Lance Stephenson had a game high 25 points and center Roy Hibbert recorded a double-double, but it wasn't enough to eclipse the disappearance of Paul George. George is the most physically gifted offensive player on the Pacers and he led the team in scoring during the regular season. In Game 2, George shot a dismal 4-16 and scored just 14 points. Amazingly, six other players made more shots than George did in Game 2.
The Heat streak of not losing consecutive games is still alive. The last time the Heat have lost back to back games was in the 2011 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks and they have never fallen down 0-2 in a series in the LeBron era.
The Pacers will travel to Miami for Game 3 and 4 beginning Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. EDT on ESPN.
In the Western Conference Finals, the San Antonio Spurs are trying to take a 2-0 series lead at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder have a big handicap as they will be playing without Serge Ibaka for the second straight game. In the first game without Ibaka, the Thunder were out-rebounded and the Spurs scored 66 points in the paint. Without Ibaka's presence down low, the Spurs front court should continue to have their way.
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are still the highest scoring combination in the NBA. The Thunder are going need these two to combine for at least 60 points because defense has pretty much gone out the window. If Scott Brooks decides to go big with some defense then this could get interesting. Center Kendrick Perkins had his moments in Game 1, leading the team in rebounds, but he only played 24 minutes.
Game 2 looks to be a high scoring affair with great moments from multiple superstars.
Game 2 will be played in San Antonio Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m. EDT on TNT.
