The mystery of his death remains unsolved after almost 18 years, but one detail has been revealed by the cop who was with rapper Tupac Shakur when he took his final breath. The Washington Post reports the iconic rapper remained true to his thug life code even during his dying seconds -- his last words were allegedly "F*** you," according to police officer Chris Carroll.

Shakur was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Koval and Flamingo on the night of Sept. 7, 1996, along the Las Vegas Strip when several men in a white Cadillac opened fire on the black BMW where he was seated in the passenger seat. Founder and chairman of Death Row Records Marion "Suge" Knight, who was with the rapper, owned the vehicle. Both men had come from a Mike Tyson bout in which Tyson defeated Bruce Seldon by a knockout in a heavyweight championship match at the MGM Grand. Shakur was shot four times and died Sept. 13, 1996. According to reports, he did not regain consciousness during those six days.

One suspected killer was Orlando Anderson, while some believed other big names in the rap industry were involved, such as Puff Daddy and Notorious B.I.G. However, Anderson was speculated by many to have been implicated in the murder as he was beaten up by Shakur's entourage shortly following the boxing match. Nevertheless, he was also killed in an unrelated shooting incident in May 1998 in Compton, California. There are fans who believe that the rapper, who was 25 years old at the time of the incident, is still alive and living somewhere in anonymity.

Carroll said that he is now comfortable speaking about the rapper's death since he is no longer on duty following his retirement in 2010.
