The Texas Rangers are expected to make roster moves in the coming days after being hit by a multitude of injuries this season, and according to reports, free agent Kendrys Morales is on the team's radar.

First baseman Prince Fielder became the latest casualty for the Rangers after the 30-year-old veteran sustained a neck injury, which will likely keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Aside from Fielder, the Rangers are also playing without key players like Martin Perez, Derek Holland, Geovany Soto, and Jurickson Profar.

With key players out and high expectations after having a spending spree during the offseason, Tim Kennedy of FanSided said he believes the Rangers will make a strong push to acquire Morales.

"With the possibility of saving their season, the Rangers are bound to at least make an attempt to sign the Cuban slugger, who hit 23 home runs last year, with the Seattle Mariners," Kennedy wrote.

Morales, who averaged .277 with 23 homeruns last season, was one of the top free agents who failed to find a taker during the offseason because he is tied with draft-pick compensation after turning down a qualifying offer from the Seattle Mariners.

But if the Rangers are really serious in acquiring Morales, NFL insider Evan Grant noted that Texas should make a strong push to sign the seven-year veteran before the June 5 draft.

Signing Morales before the draft will force the Rangers to surrender a first-round pick to the Mariners, but Grant insisted that the competition will get stiffer if they will wait until after the draft.

"If they wait, leverage goes more and more towards Morales," Grant wrote. "Once June 5 comes, he is free of the burden of costing a team a draft pick. That could then make him attractive to a number of teams on the market. And if there are a number of teams in the market, he could command a multi-year deal."

Previous reports indicated that the Baltimore Orioles are also planning to lure the Cuban designated hitter, and the Seattle Mariners are also interested in reacquiring him in hopes of improving their title chances this season.
