‘Rocket Knight’ and ‘Shadows of the Damned’ Joins Backwards Compatibility List for ‘Xbox One’
And the list of games that are made available for the Xbox One grows yet again. Recently, two new games have been added to the library, namely Rocket Knight and Shadows of the Damned.
According to Game Informer, the announcement was made by Xbox programming director Larry Hryb via Twitter last Jan 26. As part of the program, players who already own the titles, either digitally or physically, could download these games from the "Ready to Install" section of Xbox Live.
For those who own the physical copy, all that needs to be done is to place the disc on the Xbox One, and it will prompt the console to download the game. The disc needs to stay on the console to play it, though.
When the Xbox One was released in 2013, most Xbox and Xbox 360 games were not available for the new console. To answer this, Microsoft started the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program, on November 2015, thus allowing titles from the Xbox 360 to be played on the Xbox One, Dual Shockers reports.
As of the moment, there are currently over 300 titles in the lineup, from A Kingdom of Keflings to Zuma's Revenge, and many more in between.
Games obtained through the program are free of charge, and no Xbox Live Gold membership to download. The subscription would be needed, however, if the online connectivity and functionality of the games are to be used, like online multiplayer.
Rocket Knight, sequel to the Sega Genisis game Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2, continues the tale set on the previous title. After 15 years of rest from the last adventure, he finds out that the opposums of Zephyrus is fighting with the pigs of Devotindos Empire, which came 15 years ago, against the wolf army. Taking up his gear once more, he fights to protect his land against the wolf army.
Shadows of the Damned, on the other hand, is about a demon hunter, Garcia Hotspur, as he enters the City of the Damned and face its denizens to save his true love. It is a combination of Goichi Suda's punk rock vibe and Shinji Mikami's psychological action-thriller theme.
