A man was arrested after allegedly driving into the crowded Venice Beach boardwalk, killing one and injuring more than 10.

According to News Day, the 38-year-old man was seen parked outside a hotel, surveying the "leisurely summer scene" at Venice Beach. Surveillance video shows the man, now identified as Nathan Campbell, getting into a black vehicle and "mercilessly" accelerating through the crowded boardwalk hitting people while others try to jump out of the way.

"There is no indication that he knew anybody that he hit," LAPD Cmdr. Andy Smith told CNN. "It looks like this guy wanted to run over a bunch of people. One guy bent on doing evil."

Reports say 11 people were injured in the incident, including one in critical condition. CNN also reports that Alice Gruppioni, a 32-year-old woman from Italy, was killed in the rampage. According to her husband, they were on their honeymoon trip when the incident happened.

Witnesses to the incident reported the horrific scene.

"The tires started screeching," Landon Blackburn told ABC Local. "I saw him, and he was looking for blood. That guy, his intention was to kill people."

Another witness said it looked like a scene from a movie.

"It was horrible. I mean it was like something out of a movie, something you would never expect to see. There were people flying, laying on the ground, tents flying everywhere," Katherine Blackburn also told ABC. "If he wanted to kill people, he came on a perfect time, 5 p.m. on a Saturday in the summer in Venice Beach."

The car used in the crash was found abandoned on the scene. However, reports say Campbell turned himself in just hours after he created the chaos. Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Rosario Herrera says the suspect is now being charged with murder and his held on a $1 million bond.
