Last year's "Suicide Squad" made a lot of revenue amid negative reviews. After the film was flocked with critic's comments, many thought that would be the end to the franchise. But thanks to other character's performance, who were well appreciated, a sequel is on the loose. Now, the latest update includes that Oscar-nominee director and actor Mel Gibson is considered to direct the project.

According to Slash Film, Warner Bros. wants Mel Gibson to direct the upcoming sequel "Suicide Squad 2." However, there are also cautions that the Warner Bros. and Gibson are still in early talks and nothing is still settled.

The actor is making a great comeback to Hollywood after the past issues including racists and anti-Semitic comments he divulged years ago. Nonetheless, if Gibson is to direct the "Suicide Squad 2," fans should try to have excitement as he's recently being considered for an Academy Award for Best Director. Gibson also commented on the recent uprise of superhero films saying that "some are good. Some are kind of funny."

Variety said that aside from Gibson, also considered as the sequel's director are Ruben Fleischer, Daniel Espinosa, and Jonathan Levine. Fleischer is known for his "Zombieland", Espinosa for "Safe House" and Levine for "Warm Bodies." But Gibson earlier said he was not interested in directing a comic book movie.
