Bigfoot enthusiasts converged in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, to exchange ideas and theories about the mysterious Sasquatch over the weekend.

According to the Patriot-News, on Saturday, May 24 about 50 enthusiasts and investigators gathered at the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre for Bigfoot Day in the small town, which is about 120 miles northwest of Harrisburg.

During the convention, Fred Saluga, the state director of the Mutual UFO Network of West Virginia and director of the West Virginia Mountain State Sasquatch Watch, explained his belief that Bigfoot enthusiasts fall into one of three categories. The first, he said, believe that Bigfoot is a "cryptozoological hominid creature." By definition, cryptozoology is the search for animals that have not been proven to exist, and a hominid is a primate mammal that resembles humans and apes.

The second group thinks Bigfoot "dwells in extraterrestrial origin" and has ties to UFOs and aliens. The last group believes the Bigfoot types envisioned by the first two groups are entirely different creatures, said Saluga, according to The Associated Press.

"I think he's a creature from another dimension," he said. "He can come through whenever he wants, and he becomes like us, flesh and blood." As a result, Saluga stated that this explains why Bigfoot is not susceptible to diseases and infections and has never been wounded by a gunshot.

In addition to Saluga, speaker Stan Gordon of Greensburg discussed his 50-plus years of paranormal investigation and noted correlations between reports of UFOs and reports of Bigfoot within the same areas, around the same time.

"There's more to the Bigfoot phenomenon than we understand," Gordon said. However, he warned, "There are things that may appear to be very unusual on the surface but, when you investigate, may turn out to be natural or manmade. There are a lot of things you can explain, but there are a lot of things you can't explain."
