'Wonder Woman' Movie 2017 News: 'Harry Potter' Star David Thewlis Will Play Lead Villain Ares - What You Need to Know
David Thewlis known for his role in "Harry Potter" as Professor Remus Lupin has been cast to play the lead villain Ares in "Wonder Woman." According to recent reports, Thewlis' Ares for the movie will be shown on screen using computer-generated and practical effects.
It seems like the visual representation of Ares for the upcoming "Wonder Woman" movie has been released ahead of the official images of the characer. The "Wonder Woman" Ares action figure released along with other characters in "Wonder Woman"were showcased at the New York Toy Fair this week, according to Comic Book. Judging by the toy, it would look like David Thewlis' character will don a huge blue tinted armor with a weapon and shield in each hand for the movie.

The "Wonder Woman" movie will once again star Gal Gadot as the titular superhero named Diana Prince. It will be the first solo movie of the Amazon Princess. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman was first seen in the 2016 movie "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" and while the movie got mixed reviews, her performance was applauded.
According to the official movie synopsis, Diana will leave her island to stop the war and along the way she will discover her "destiny" as Wonder Woman. The movie is slated to be released this Summer on June 2, 2017 in the US.
IGN reports that "Wonder Woman" is directed by "Monster" director Patty Jenkins. Gal Gadot is joined by Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope and Lucy Davis as Etta Candy. The Warner Bros. final trailer for "Wonder Woman" is yet to be released.
