NBA News: Pelicans To Trade Terrence Jones In Exchange For A Perimeter Player
According to several league sources, the New Orleans Pelicans are now openly shopping forward player Terrence Jones in the trade market. Now that superstar center DeMarcus Cousins is officially making his way to New Orleans to form a formidable frontcourt duo with superstar power forward Anthony Davis, it seems like the minutes for other front court players will be limited for the Pelicans.
With that being said, it seems that Jones is on the verge of moving to his 3rd team in the last 8 months. Jones has recently been bouncing around the league, trying to find a new home to stay.
According to SB Nation - A Sea of Blue, Jones has been averaging 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game ever since joining the Pelicans in the off-season. His contribution to the team is also a solid representation of his last three years in Houston right before being released by the Rockets in July last year.
Jones signed a 1 year deal with the Pelicans worth $1.5 million after testing the free agency market and finding out that his services were not that much in high demand. Despite the lack of demand in the off-season, there are a lot of possible landing spots for the former Kentucky Wildcat surfacing since last night when his name has been heard about being shopped.
According to Fan Rag Sports, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, and Miami Heat have all been mentioned as potential destinations, along with the Oklahoma City Thunder emerging just this morning as an early leader. The New Orleans will be looking for a perimeter guy in this trade, as they have just dealt the majority of their backcourt in order to get Cousins.
Unfortunately, no former Kentucky guards are really fitting to the need or are too expensive. But then again, it's great to see two former Kentucky player teaming up in the NBA.
