Report: Messi Visits Egypt Again In Health Campaign Against Hepatitis C
Argentina football star Lionel Messi, a player for FC Barcelona have visited Egypt on Tuesday. He visited the country on Tuesday to promote treatment for Hepatitis C.
According to Daily News Egypt, supported by the Egyptian ministries of tourism and aviation, Lionel Messi has finally visited Egypt on Tuesday. The visit was postponed in the aftermath of Barcelona's scathing champion's league defeat to PSG on Tuesday last week.
The popular campaign was announced on Twitter using the hashtag A World free Hepatitis C. The event is coordinated by the Egyptian medical tourism group tour. They have started a campaign titled "Tourn Cure" to promote tourism in Egypt.
Egypt has been the focus of attention of all countries in the wake of its success in treating around one million Hepatitis C patients. Egypt's health ministry has reported that 942,000 patients with the Hepatitis C virus had been cured by the end of January 2017.
Africa News has reported, Egypt has been highlighted for its success in treating around a million of patients affected by illness. The country has the highest rate of infection; with 10 per cent of Egyptians, nearly nine million people having contracted the disease.
The campaign is coordinated by Egypt's Health and Tourism ministries. Messi's visit was initially supposed to take place in December but was postponed after the deadly bombing of two churches in Cairo on December 11.
The visit was again then scheduled to take place on 15 February. But this was again postponed after FC Barcelona lost to Paris SG 4-0 in the 2017 Champions League.
The Argentina football star has started the campaign from the Mena House Hotel. During the event, an auction for a Messi T-shirt took place, in order to raise funds who suffer from Hepatitis C.
However, this is not the first incident. Dani Alves was the first footballer to become the ambassador of the brand.He was followed by Egyptian football manager Mido.
