Beyonce Doctor’s Orders To Bow Out Of Coachella: Asks For LGBTQ Rights & Support for 100 Days Of Kindness
Beyonce has to take it easy says her doctor; this was the main reason she had to cancel her performance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The singer, who is pregnant with twins, need to rest and follow a less rigorous schedule. She was set to be at the annual music festival for two weekends on April 15 and 22 but had to give it up to the dismay of her fans.
Beyonce will not be at Coachella 2017 but will be a headliner in 2018, CNN reported. Organizers of Coachella has not yet announced who will replace the singer but it's a green light for all other artists like Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar. Queen Bey's fans expressed their frustration upon her cancellation with most of them saying that she was the main reason why they purchased tickets in the first place. Most of her fans wanted a refund.
Aside from announcing that she will be missing Coachella this year, Beyonce also made news by criticizing President Donald Trump on transgender rights. She took to social media her dismay when a new US federal policy was released regarding the bathroom usage of transgender students, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. The "Lemonade" singer told her followers to support LGBTQ rights with the GLSEN, a school advocacy group.
President Trump announced earlier that his government will remove guidelines that were developed by the Obama administration regarding the use of restrooms by transgender students. This guideline is being followed in U.S. public schools. Beyonce said that LGBTQ students should know that there are people who support them and protect them. She posted a link to redirect her 64 million followers to GLSEN's 100 Days of Kindness. She asked them to use the hashtag #Kindnessin Action.
Aside from Beyonce, other stars also commented on President Trump's new guidelines. "Orange is the New Black" star Laverne Cox, Ellen Page, Emmy Rosum, Ellen DeGeneres and more took to Twitter their dismay. Katy Perry reached out and said that Trevor Project and Tans Lifeline hotlines are available.
