Soccer Transfer News and Rumors: Manchester United, Arsenal Targeting Atletico Madrid Midfielder Arda Turan
Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan has received an offer to move to the English Premier League next season according to his agent, Ahmet Bulut.
In an interview with Voetbal Primeur, Bulut revealed that Turan could move to England next season after receiving an official offer from a Premier League team, but he insisted that they have yet to make a decision on what they intend to do this summer.
"Arda is currently playing at a big club with big ambitions," Bulut said via Crunch Sports. "He wants to be part of that success, but we must wait and see what happens. An offer from an English club has arrived. As in every transfer, two parties, the player and the club, they must make a decision."
Bulut did not reveal what team made the offer, but it is widely believed that the offer was from Arsenal, whose manager, Arsene Wenger, previously said that they could target players from Atletico Madrid.
Aside from Arsenal, English clubs Manchester United and Liverpool are also reportedly planning to make a strong push to acquire Turan this summer.
Turan, who had three goals and four assists in 30 Spanish La Liga games last season, signed a three-year contract extension with Atletico Madrid last year, a contract that will run until 2017.
Meanwhile, Atletico midfielder Koke is also drawing the interest of several top-tier teams in Europe.
According to Goal.com, league rival Barcelona is reportedly interested in buying the 21-year-old midfielder, while Manchester United is also setting their sights on Koke.
Koke admitted that he is "proud" that Barcelona and several other teams are interested in him, but he insisted that he is not thinking about moving to another club next season, saying that he is happy with Atletico Madrid.
"I have a long contract, I'm very happy. I'm proud to have important clubs interested in me, but I'm very happy here," Koke said. "Right now I'm thinking as an Atletico player, I have the World Cup and I'm thinking of the present, not of the future."
