Apple's New 9.7-inch iPad With A9 SoC Launched, Starting Prices At Rs. 28,900
Apple has launched a new 9.7-inches iPad with 32GB of storage and the A9 SoC. Prices for the new iPad start at Rs. 28,900 for the basic standard model with only Wi-Fi, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular model is coming with a price tag of Rs. 39,900. Apple says that the new iPad also comes with a brighter Retina display. Interestingly, while the company's press release only tells about the 32GB version, on the other side Apple's website shows a 128GB version as well. Prices of that version has not been revealed yet.
According to recent IDC data, on March 1, 2017, the Indian tablet market slowed down, with annual shipments seeing a downfall of 3.1 percent in 2016. Meanwhile, the year has been bad for most of the tablet vendors, Apple, on the other hand, has seen a good growth. After a long period of time, Apple has now made it to the top 5 vendors with iPad shipments seeing a growth by16 percent over the previous quarter. Also, compared to Q4 2015, Apple has seen a growth of 17 percent in Q4 2016, which is not at all bad.
As per Digit, besides this, Apple also announced that the Ipad Mini 4 will now be available in a 128GB variant also. The Wi-Fi based model is priced at Rs. 34,900, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular is priced at Rs. 45,900. The new device will be available for order from March 24 and will start shipping to customers in India from April.
Coming back to the iPad Air 2 which had been Apple's top selling iPad model, contributing to half of the shipments. The iPad Pro, on the other hand, accounted a hike by 22.7 percent of India's detachable category in 2016. This includes both, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and 9.7-inch iPad Pro models that are compatible with Apple Pencil and detachable Smart Keyboard.
Apple also launched a new app called Clips for the iPhone and iPad, which lets users combine video clips, photos and music into videos. These videos can then be shared with friends through social media websites directly.
