Slenderman Stabbing: Wisconsin Preteens Motivated by 'Creepypasta Wiki' Website to Stab Friend
Two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls, who said they were acting on instructions from a website, are being charged for allegedly stabbing one of their friends 19 times, authorities said.
Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier are being held for attempted first-degree intentional homicide after the alleged attack Saturday morning in the woods of Waukesha. Waukesha is located in the southeastern part of Wisconsin near Milwaukee.
The 12-year-old girl that the two are suspected to have stabbed is unidentified. She was fighting for her life in an area hospital Monday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
The criminal complaint details the story of the stabbing. It says that one girl held down the victim, while the other stabbed her in the torso, legs and arms. Their goal was to kill her so that they could become "proxies" of a fictional character on the website Creepypasta Wiki. The website says it is designed to "shock readers" with short stories.
The victim was able to crawl out of the woods to a road where she was spotted by a cyclist.
The police were able to locate the two suspects and the knife said to be used in the attack.
The website, Creepypasta, lists instructions to readers that, "If they go to a certain place at a certain time and perform specific actions, something remarkable and/or horrifying will happen."
Weier told police that she showed Geyser the website in December. Geyser decided they needed to kill someone so that they could prove they were worthy to "Slenderman," a fictional character and supposed leader of Creepypasta.
After the attack, the girls wanted to visit Slenderman at his mansion in the Nicolet National Forest, a huge forest in northern Wisconsin. They wanted to prove he was real.
Police are responding to the attack and are warning parents to monitor their kids' Internet activity.
