Jennifer Alfonso Facebook Murder: Husband Shoots Wife, Posts Picture Of Corpse Online
One Florida man's bizarre actions have many people scratching their heads this week after he shot his wife during a fight. The catch? He decided to post gruesome details of the incident to Facebook before being arrested.
Derek Medina of South Miami claims that he shot his wife, Jennifer Alfonso, in self-defense after a verbal altercation turned violent and she began hitting him. Apparently this was not the first time that Medina, 31, and Alfonso, 26, had gotten physical while fighting.
"Im going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news my wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope you understand me," read a status update on Medina's Facebook account.
Not only did he post that chilling status mere minutes after killing his wife, but he also though it would be appropriate to provide proof to those who may have doubted him. Medina decided to then post pictures of his deceased wife's body to the social networking site, with his story soon going viral online.
Medina then decided to contact his father and let him know everything that just happened. The father drove over to Medina's place and took him to the police station, where he promptly turned himself in.
"He just said that his wife picked up a knife on him, and they had a big fight, and he shot her," said Medina's father, Derek Medina, Sr. "They were married for three years, and then they got divorced, and they got remarried last year. They always had some problems."
When cops arrived at the scene, they found what everyone else who was friends with Medina on Facebook had already seen. They also found Medina's 10-year-old daughter from a previous marriage and quickly moved to get her out of the house.
What makes this story all the more bizarre is the fact that before the shooting, Medina had written several self-help books, one of which dealt with saving marriage through communication. Another one, not lacking in verbosity, was entitled "World Just Ask Yourself Why We Are Living a Life Full of Lies and How I an Emotional Writer Made All of My Professional Dreams Come True Blocking Society's Teachings."
Immediately after news of the incident first hit, people started to flock en masse to sites that were offering Medina's books, including ejunkie. Most of the comments on his books' pages, however, were likely not from people who had actually read them.
"What a fantastic book. My wife was rustling my jimmies but I didn't want to get a divorce. Instead, I read this book and shot her in the face," quipped one commenter in the review section.
